"When opting to shop around for less expensive auto insurance I haggled to get a few dollars shaved off my previous provider only by accepting a tracking device that monitors one's driving behavior. This device was extremely inconvenient so I discontinued use and my bill went above the previous provider immediately. Upon shopping for a better premium independently I discovered the exact coverages at half the yearly rate. The repair shop (Fort Bend Collision) recommended and accepted by State Farm obviously cut many corners to shave off repair costs' totals. My front bumper was never properly secured and has since began to fall off due to cheap clips used to reattach it. My gas tank lid cover requires a two-person effort to just open each refill. The two front tires affected by the collision were simply rotated to the rear and have slow leaks requiring frequent air. When inspected there was debate on hood damage preexisting despite no rust. When requesting cancelation and disclosing the significant savings as my reason I received a chuckle from the agent with the explanation that basically was equivalent to, "Hey, we got to eat." We're talking $2,500 a year less. Lessons learned: never stop shopping for better rates. It's your right. Also, when presented with a designated repair facility always push for a third-party option to prevent sub-par repairs obviously conspired by the claims department and their "lap dog" to shave off the providers' overhead totals. Guess that extra $2,500 a year didn't warrant exceptional service."
